Medieval Fete continued

In the evening, we had 14 friends round for drinks and drank rather a lot of wine.A drunk frenchman rolled his car in to the verge outside our house, narrowly missing Chez Calou's Gas tank. We decided to take a rather shaken mother to the Unicorn for another meal, and had a fascinating evening listening to Moritz's accounts of his treatment by the Germans in the second world war. Finally we had a visit from 'Le Elvis' and went to bed.

Medieval Fete

On Friday, Lusignac had a Medieval fete. There were a few interesting stalls selling carved, weaved and metal-worked goods, a chap speaking on the tannoy that looked like an extra from 'It's a Knockout', rope making, jousting and a bbq selling medieval style food.

Dining at La Licorne

Here we are having a fine meal at our local town bar. Lovely food, lovely staff great weather.

Trip to Brantôme

Today I was given a day's grace and went to Brantôme with Richard, Gill and Mum. Brantôme is a gorgeous medieval town along the river, below the infamous jutting rock formations of the Dordogne. We had lunch at a cafe with the worst waiter in the world, then went shopping for gifts. Finally we watched the tourists get stuck on the Weir in their canoes and applauded the ones who managed not to get stuck.

Dinner at La Commensal

Last night we all jumped into a Taxi and scooted down to Riberac to a Lovely restaurent called La Commensal. The Waiter, Gregory was very funny - very keen to practice his english, and to show off his Polish Bugs Bunny Tie. The Service was excellent and the food was out of this world. Needless to say we all behaved like very refined continentals...
